COURSE
Crate Training
Course Overview
Crates have, unfortunately, a bad reputation for a lot of people. But crates aren’t cages, at least when used correctly. If your dog is properly crate trained, you’ll have peace of mind when leaving them on their own, and they’ll have a safe, warm, and comfortable den to retreat to when they need it. But even if you don’t plan on having a crate for your dog at home, it’s really important that your dog is crate trained in case they need to travel or spend the night at the vet.
In this course, certified trainer and behavior consultant Alex Sessa will walk you through how to choose the right crate, set up the crate environment, and how to cue your dog to enter their crate.

The Basics
Well, as you can see, crate training is relatively simple! With only one workshop, you can have your dog crate trained in just a few short weeks. We’ll break down how to choose the right crate for your dog based on their age, breed, size (and eventual size!) and where to place crates within your home to give you and your dog optimal freedom and comfort. We’ll also highlight one of our favorite products on the market, the Revol crate from our friends over at Diggs!
Frequently Asked Questions -
Crate Training
While it may look similar, crates are very much not cages. Crates satisfy a natural inclination to be in a small, warm space, like a den, so if properly trained, your dog will love it! Besides, even if you don’t want to use a crate on a daily basis, knowing that your dog is comfortable in one will help in case they need to travel or be kept overnight at the vet.
The unfortunate answer is, buy what you think will work, and replace it if it gets too small! Luckily, retailers like Chewy are fantastic about returns for products that don’t quite work for your situation.
